Life would not be complete without music
Shuyi Che is a registered music therapist and saxophone player who lives on the Gold Coast. In the past 12 years, she has worked with people with developmental delays, autism, behavioural problems, cerebral palsy, and mental health issues. She believes people connect to music naturally without any language barrier. This is why people love music and see it as a self-expression tool.
By providing music therapy, the main goal is to assist individuals in their continuous personal growth through the power of music. Without previous music expertise, music therapy is able to enhance both musical and non-musical skills, which can be applied to a variety of other areas in daily life.
With Nordoff-Robbins’ creative music therapy and client centred approach with holistic care are my approaches. It brings out the decision making and the involvement from the participants into music playing together. Having music therapy is fun, it is playful and joyful therapeutic for people who like to use music to reach their goals.
